Many of you loved Soap Box Derby last year, and it’s back as an even bigger event combined with the Dole/YMCA Healthy Kids Day. Below is the announcement on it.

Triunfo YMCA Announces 2008 Soap Box Derby & Dole/YMCA Healthy Kids Day
– Soap Box races now open to the public to enter
– Healthy Kids Day to promote healthy living for the children
– Antique and Class Car Show with community participation
– YMCA BBQ, attractions for the whole family, and more

January 31, 2008 — Westlake Village, CA — Triunfo YMCA has announced the
return of Soap Box Derby and Dole/YMCA Healthy Kids Day in Westlake Village.
Sponsored by the City of Westlake Village, Dole Foods, Farmers Insurance,
and others, the event is set for Saturday, April 12th, 2008 as part of a
weekend full of community events in Westlake Village.

The Soap Box Derby is being held alongside Healthy Kids Day, with an
Antique and Class Car Show, and “family fun day” with a BBQ.

This is real Soap Box Car races (e.g., cars the kids ride inside unlike
Pinewood Derby). The race is for kids from 7-17, and this year is now open
to all in the area to participate. Last year, there were 81 kids
registered to race, and a race was completed every 2 1/4 minutes for 3

Everyone is invited to attend all the activities of the day at this event. The public is also invited to enter the car show and the races (must register by March 14th).
