On March 27th at 2:30am, Ventura County Sheriff responded to 9-1-1 calls reporting a shooting at the Westlake Hyatt Hotel. An extensive investigation started immediately after the shooting where approximately one hundred deputies and the Sheriffs SWAT team originally responded.
Yesterday, May 15th, investigators with the Ventura County Sheriffs Office arrested Damien Estes for this shooting. Estes was arrested near his home in Hollywood, CA with the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department. Search warrants were served at two locations and evidence related to the crime was seized. Estes was booked into the Ventura County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is currently set at $80,000 dollars pending his arraignment in Superior Court.
