Narrative:
On 10-30-11, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau conducted a preliminary investigation, along with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office regarding the sudden unexplained death of Griffen Kramer. Griffen was found unresponsive in a friend’s bedroom in the City of Agoura Hills.

The initial investigation indicated Griffen had possibly died from a drug overdose, which will be confirmed once toxicology reports are completed. During the on-going investigation, Homicide Investigators were able to identify several persons involved in narcotic activities who interacted with Griffen in the hours preceding his death. As a result, Investigators obtained search warrants for several locations in an effort to collect evidence related to narcotics activities, as well as evidence regarding any individuals directly related to the events leading to Griffen’s death.

This morning’s multi-location search warrant operation involved 54 personnel and the following LASD personnel:

* LASD Homicide Bureau
* LASD Narcotics Bureau
* LASD/Malibu/Lost Hills Station Detectives
* DCFS Response Team
* Malibu Search & Rescue

As a result of an extensive investigation by the LASD Homicide Bureau regarding recent narcotic related death of a local juvenile, and in conjunction with additional investigations conducted by Malibu/Lost Hills Station Narcotics Bureau detectives and the Malibu/Lost Hills Station J-Team, a six location search warrant operation was executed today at approximately 7:00 a.m.

As a result of this operation, three adults and two juveniles were arrested on felony charges. One of the adults, David Nernberg MW/19 resident of Agoura Hills, was arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter 192(b) PC. Two additional juveniles were arrested on misdemeanor charges and two adults were cited out for misdemeanor offenses. Due to the deplorable conditions at the locations, six children were taken into protective custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services Response Team. A total of forty-eight pieces of evidence was seized pursuant to the search warrant.

LASD Homicide Bureau will be conducting follow-up investigations. Malibu/Lost Hills Station Detectives, the Malibu/Lost Hills J-Team, and Malibu/Lost Hills Station Narcotics Detectives will be conducting subsequent follow-up investigations in an attempt to identify and arrest any additional suspects related with this case or involved in any illegal narcotic activity.
