As of 3:55pm: The Highway 101 brush fire remains at 15-20 acres. An aggressive attack by firefighters on the ground and helicopters overhead is helping to slow the fire’s spread and aid in containment.
As of 3:08pm: The brush fire continues to burn near Highway 101 in Thousand Oaks. More than 100 firefighters are now on scene or in route. The fire is now between 15-20 acres, spreading slowly in light to medium brush. An active air attack is underway and additional helicopters have been ordered. Structure protection is in place and hand crews and dozers are making good progress cutting a line around the fire.
