Dear Westlake Voter:

My husband, Ray, and I have been involved residents of Westlake Village for the past 20 years. During this time I have served on numerous Boards, Committees and Associations with the goal of improving the quality and lifestyle of our citizens.

I was the Corporate Litigation and Insurance Administrator for Systems Planning Corporation, a publicly held Engineering and Architectural Design Firm. My responsibilities included the implementation of risk management programs and strategies involving insurance negotiations, litigation review and dispute resolution for 27 subsidiaries throughout the United States and abroad.

I am running for a seat on the Westlake Village City Council because I am passionate about my campaign issues and goals. As a concerned citizen, I was a leader in opposing Measure Z, Loweâ??s â??Big Box Storeâ?, which was strongly defeated by our community! I bring an extraordinary blend of experience, character and dedication to our community, and I look forward to serving with other Council members in making our cityâ??s plans, ideas and directions a reality.

If our vision for the City of Westlake Village is the same, I look forward to your vote and support. I know that by working together our City can thrive and grow â??responsiblyâ? while preserving the â??Villageâ? in Westlake that we all love.

Official Candidates Statement on file

Carol Kirschbaum
Retired Risk Manager

Why I am running?

I seek to unify our community around the goal of preserving Westlake as a village. We need to safeguard Westlake Village from over- development, excessive traffic, and projects that destroy our quality of life. Our current planning process has resulted in projects that do not compliment our small village community.

Let’s unite around a better planning process. Let’s obtain better results by involving greater expertise and community involvement in planning developments that enhance the character of our city!

My Experience

I retired as the risk manager for a publicly held engineering/ architectural firm with 27 subsidiaries. I implemented risk management strategies involving insurance, negotiation, litigation review and dispute resolution.

My husband and I have been involved residents of Westlake Village for 20 years. I have been active in the community —

Westlake Village POA, Vice-President, Board Liaison to the Architectural Committee. I led the design and development of our new guardhouse, landscaping and lighting project.

WLMA, Executive Board and Chairperson, Rules and Regulations Committee.

Board of Create-a-Smile, Animal Assisted Therapy; WLV Grants Program Committee; Vice-President, Angel’s Board of Directors, Casa Pacifica; WLV Women’s Club.
