“TGIF AT THE CIVIC CENTER” KICKS OFF ON JUNE 1 WITH JAZZ NIGHT

The City of Westlake Village will kick off its 9th season of summer entertainment on June 1. The series begins with “Jazz Night.” The multi-award winning jazz bands from both Lindero Canyon Middle School and Agoura High School will be performing. The performance start at 7:00 pm. “The Latigo Kid Restaurant” will be on site offering inexpensive family friendly dinners for sale.

“Jazz Night” is part of a series of seven special events sponsored by the City of Westlake Village that are geared for the entire family. Upcoming “TGIF” events at the Civic Center” include selections from Cabrillo Music Theater’s production of “Meet Me in St. Louis” on June 29, an outdoor movie screening featuring 2011’s “The Muppet Movie,” and “New West Symphony Presents” on August 31.

In addition to these four events, the City is proud to announce the newest addition to its summer entertainment series, “Saturdays in the Park.” This series will feature three concerts in the park on Saturday nights at Berniece Bennett Park. The series kicks off on June 16 with a tribute to “Journey.” Additional concerts will feature an Elton John tribute on July 21 and a Beatles tribute on August 18. “Saturdays in the Park” begin at 7:00 pm.

The four TGIF events will be held at the Westlake Village Civic Center, 31200 Oak Crest Drive. The three “Saturday in the Park” events will be held at Berniece Bennett Park, 31800 Village Center Drive. These outdoor performances are free to the public and families are encouraged to attend. Please bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets for a delightful early evening summer performance. As the temperatures drop in the early evening hours, it is helpful to bring warmer attire for the evening to best enjoy the entertainment. Food will be available for sale at each event starting at 6:00 pm.
