Mann Westlake Village Closes; Cinépolis Coming

Earlier this week, Mann Theaters at the Promenade in Westlake Village, which opened in 1996, closed its doors. Many have been wondering what was going on. Theater employees told the Daily News that they are being laid off. Mann has not released a statement on the reason for this closure.

According to the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, “Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas will enter the Los Angeles area market in 2012 with the opening of an upscale movie theater at The Promenade at Westlake. Cinépolis will extensively remodel the existing Mann Theater at The Promenade that is closing Dec. 27. The Cinépolis theater is scheduled to open in May and will offer reserved seating, plush leather electric recliners, and in-seat service where waiters take guest orders.” (See http://www.sfvbj.com/news/2011/dec/22/cinepolis-picks-westlake-village-first-l-area-thea/)

The Daily News describes Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas in this way: “The company offers theaters with a full bar and restaurant; leather recliners; personal call buttons; and reserved seating. Additionally, waiters are on call to deliver beverages and dining options to moviegoers.”
