LVUSD Names New Principals at White Oak and Chaparral Elementary Schools

Synopsis

At the end of the 2010-11 school year, LVUSD announced that Ron Kaiser was retiring as principal from Lindero Canyon Middle School. Several days later, LVUSD announced that White Oak Elementary principal Dr. Abbe Irshay would take the LCMS principal position.

Last night, LVUSD announced publicly that Dr. Sarah Medler has been named principal of White Oak Elementary school, and Rosemarie Hibler has been named principal of Chaparral Elementary.

SARAH MEDLER NAMED PRINCIPAL OF WHITE OAK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND ROSEMARIE HIBLER NAMED PRINCIPAL OF CHAPARRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Board of Education of the Las Virgenes Unified School District has appointed Dr. Sarah Medler as Principal of White Oak Elementary School and Rosemarie Hibler as Principal of Chaparral Elementary School at the July 26, 2011, Board Meeting.

Born and raised in Milpitas, California, Dr. Medler, and her husband, Larry Jr., have lived in the Los Angeles area for the past 13 years. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and multiple-subject teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University, she began her teaching career in the Wiseburn School District. There she taught third, fourth, and fifth grade for over six years, serving the full range of learners. At the same time, she completed her Masters Degree and credential in School Administration at Loyola Marymount University and began serving in administrative roles. Among those responsibilities, she worked as teacher-in-charge, Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) mentor, and summer school co-principal.

For the last three years, Dr. Medler has worked for the Beginning Teacher Programs at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. She worked with new and veteran teachers, as well as a variety of leadership teams, towards meeting teacher induction standards and California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Two years ago, she earned her Educational Doctorate in K-12 Leadership from the University of Southern California. Dr. Medler and her husband are excited that she will now serve as the newly appointed principal of White Oak Elementary.

Mrs. Hibler, her husband, Chris, and their children Monica, Christopher and Madeline, are residents of Santa Clarita, California. Born and raised in Southern California, she began her career over 20 years ago working in a variety of educational roles such as classroom teacher, resource/reading teacher, program coordinator, assistant principal and elementary principal. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the California State University of Los Angeles, she went on to earn a Masters Degree in Educational Administration with honors from California State University Northridge. She began her teaching career in the Lawndale School District where she taught K-4. She then went on to the Moorpark Unified School District as a program coordinator and then assistant principal at the Newhall School District. At Newhall, she was part of the school team that acquired a California Distinguished School Award, a National Blue Ribbon School Award, and a Title I Achievement School Award. Most recently, she was an elementary school principal at the Fillmore Unified School District.

Mrs. Hibler has had a variety of experiences working with elementary age students, middle school students in afterschool programs, high school students in categorical programs and taught adult students in English and Computer classes. Mrs. Hibler is excited to be joining the Las Virgenes Unified School District as well as returning to Calabasas where she and her husband had lived for several years.
