The smell of smoke in the air around Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Agoura is a fire just off of the Southbound 101 at the Scales on the Conejo Grade. The fire started at just after 7pm through medium to heavy brush, but moved slowly. By 7:30pm it was 3 acres cresting the hill at Old Conejo Road. And by 7:40pm, Ventura County Fire Department upgraded the event and responded with a 2nd Alarm.
With 36 units on scene, as of 9:19pm, the fire is now 75% contained at 15 acres.
