Thousand Oaks Philharmonic To Host Free Orientation on December 4
Students and their families interested in concerto competitions and performing as future soloists should attend
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., November 26, 2010 — The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic (www.tophil.org) will be hosting a free orientation/informational meeting for all students and families interested in participating in upcoming concerto competitions, no matter which audition they are involved in: Music Teachers? Association of California-Conejo Valley Branch, Conejo Valley Youth Orchestras, or the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic?s Open auditions. Students and their families who have current or future interest in the prospect of performing as soloists with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic are encouraged to attend.
The session will take place on Saturday, December 4, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. at the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Recital Hall, in the Paseo Market Place shopping center– 3749 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Westlake Village.
The conductor, Dr. John Roscigno, and members of the Philharmonic Board will present important information which will help students prepare for the audition, the possible rehearsals with the orchestra and the performances. In addition to helping students be more comfortable with the audition and performance, members of the board will be present to give a brief history of the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, explain the mission and vision of the non-profit organization and how students and families can fully participate with the goal being an extremely positive educational and personal experience while enhancing the community with performances celebrating culture and awareness of classical music. Light refreshments will be served.
After the seminar, students and their parents are invited to attend a session of HAMMERED! the Honors Seminar for High School Pianists, which starts at 3:00 p.m. Guest professors include Dmitry Rachmanov, Chair of Keyboard Studies at CSUN, who will lecture on the music of Schumann & Chopin, in celebration of their 200th year birthdays, and Francoise Regnat, French Pianist/Professor-retired CSUN, will lead the master class.
There is no charge for guests at this particular class, and the schedule is: Lecture 3:00 p.m. – 3:50 p.m, Master Class from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Due to limited space, please notify the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic if you plan to stay for the HAMMERED! session, and how many people are in the party. RSVP for the HAMMERED! session at tophilharmonic@gmail.com. It is not necessary to RSVP for the Concerto Orientation/informational meeting.
