CITY TO HOLD OUTREACH WORKSHOPS ON THE DESIGN
OF THE FUTURE WESTLAKE VILLAGE COMMUNITY PARK

The City of Westlake Village, Westlake Village non-profit Community Foundation, and the Triunfo YMCA of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA are joining together in a unique partnership, to announce the development of the Westlake Village Community Park and YMCA. The future Community Park and YMCA facilities will provide both indoor and outdoor health and well-being activities for children, teens, older adults and families. Located on the northside of Thousand Oaks Blvd., west of Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village, the proposed master plan for the 18-acre site includes a full-service YMCA facility, and eight acres of City sports fields along with various other recreational amenities. Parking and ingress and egress to the site will be shared by the City and the YMCA.

The development of this overall project is being constructed in two separate phases. Phase I involving the construction of the master pad commenced in July 2009, and the grading and drainage portion of this work was recently completed. The remaining components of this phase include the construction of the underground utilities; pump stations; slope landscaping and irrigation; and access and maintenance roads. Phase I development is expected to be completed in early 2011.

Phase II of the project includes the separate development of the above-ground City park improvements and the YMCA facility. The City affiliated non-profit Westlake Village Community Foundation and the Triunfo YMCA will be undertaking a necessary capital fundraising campaign to offset the separate park and YMCA improvement costs for this second phase. Although the timetable for this phase of construction has not been established, it is anticipated that the project may be constructed over several years as funds become available.

The City will be holding a series of community outreach workshops during the month of May to receive input on the location and design of the above-ground elements to be included in the new Community Park. The outreach workshops will be held at the Westlake Village City Hall (31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village).
