Annual Westlake Village City Celebration Slated for Saturday, October 22 (3:00 PM to 9:00 PM)

Each year, the City of Westlake Village partners with several community organizations to host the Westlake Village City Celebration. Now in its 9th year, the City Celebration has become a spectacular community gathering that takes place entirely at the Westlake Village Civic Center. The 2011 City Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 22, beginning at 3:00 pm. The early afternoon and evening times allow for a full slate of activities including a twilight 5K and a gourmet BBQ dinner. A full breakdown of the day’s exciting activities is listed below.

Westlake Village Community Foundation Gourmet BBQ Dinner

Sit down by the fountain and enjoy a gourmet BBQ dinner sponsored by Stonefire Grill www.stonefiregrill.com and a glass of wine or beer sponsored by Wade’s Wines. The dinner will feature mesquite grilled tri-tip, garlic mashed potatoes, cowboy beans, BBQ chopped salad (meatless), and Stonefire’s famous breadsticks. Beer and wine will be available for purchase for $5 a glass. All proceeds raised will benefit the Westlake Village Community Foundation. The dinner begins at 4:30 pm and ends at 7:30 pm. Beer and wine will be available from 3:00 pm till 8:00 pm. Dinners can be pre-purchased for $10 per person prior to the event or on the day of the event for $12 per person. White Oak PFC Fun Fair

Join your friends and neighbors in supporting White Oak Elementary School at the White Oak PFC Fun Fair. The Fun Fair will feature 4 new games, 10 exciting rides, and a cake walk. If you are thirsty or have a sweet tooth, make sure to visit the Bake Sale tent. Come purchase, design, and paint a City 30th Anniversary tile. Tiles are $30 with proceeds benefitting the White Oak PFC. All tiles will be placed on a wall at Berniece Bennett Park to commemorate the City’s 30th Anniversary. Pre-sale discounted bracelets may be purchased at White Oak School from October 19th – 21st during regular office hours. The Fun Fair opens at 3:00 pm and runs until 9:00 pm.

Westlake Village City Celebration Twilight Run

5K and 1 mile run and walk

The 2nd Annual City Celebration Twilight Run offers local runners an alternative to early morning races and a choice between a 5K and a 1 mile course. This year’s race is presented by The Rotary Club of Westlake Village and sponsored by K-Swiss. For more information or to print out a race brochure visit wlv.org or call 818-706-1613. Haunted House

The Triunfo YMCA Haunted House returns to help get you in the Halloween spirit. The “spooktacular” Haunted House is designed and hosted by the YMCA Teen Program, Youth and Government. The Haunted House will be located in the Westlake Village Community Room. Haunted House tickets are $2.

Free Shredding and E-Waste Collection Event

This year’s City Celebration is offering two “green” programs for residents from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. The first is a free document shredding event presented by ACCESS. Residents may bring up to five boxes per family for shredding. The second program is an E-Waste Collection event hosted by PC Recycle with all proceeds benefitting the Las Virgenes Educational Foundation. The shredding and E-Waste collection will take place at the Farmer’s Insurance office building directly across from the Westlake Village Civic Center at 31051 Agoura Road. Live Entertainment Throughout The Day

The Local Community Performance Showcase will feature 11 local acts that will include dancers, musicians, athletes, and animal acts performing on the main stage in the Westlake Civic Center courtyard from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. The showcase will conclude with a free Halloween- themed magic show featuring “The Magic of Tony Daniels” sponsored by the Friends of the Westlake Village Library.

City Celebration At Twilight

From 7:00 – 9:00 pm the event will come alive with neon lights, a spookier haunted house, and a concert by local teen band “The Sheds.”
